Dear worldwide IF-Sailors,
I have the great honour to invite you all to come to our International IF boat meeting in the Hanseatic city of Stralsund from June 12th, 2025 to June 15th, 2025
I am very pleased to announce that the German IF Boat Class Association is inviting you for an international meeting in Stralsund, Germany.
The meeting is planned with numerous opportunities to get to know each other, exchange ideas and hold races on the bay waters north of the Hanseatic city.
The focus is on the fun of sailing, not on serious races, and we look forward to numerous national and international guests with their families coming to visit us.
We would like to exchange ideas about our classic IF boat in terms of regatta tactics, repairs, sailing trips, etc.
The aim is to create a good learning platform for experienced IF boat sailors, but also for new boat owners.
The 75th Stralsund Sailing Week will provide the setting for the meeting. This is a sailing event that has been taking place since 1949 and which will make the entire city shine in maritime splendor.
Here is the link to the event: https://ssw.my-odoo.de/
The program currently looks like this after consultation with the organizers and we are very cordially invited to take part in the national sailing event:
Thursday June 12th, 2025 Arrival
Friday June 13th, 2025 Breakfast together, then race
Saturday June 14th, 2025 Regatta Round the island ‘Hiddensee’, approx. 42sm (start: 8:00 a.m.), then evening event (sailor’s party)
Sunday June 15th, 2025 Breakfast together, then race
In addition to this posting I will invite the Danish, Norwegian, Dutch and British IF boat sailors and hope that many of you and some of our international guests will find their way to the venerable Hanseatic city of Stralsund.
The Hanseatic city of Stralsund is located on the bridge to the island of Rügen, is well worth seeing and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2002.
The historic old town island has around 520 architectural monuments and is surrounded on all sides by water, the Strelasund and the city ponds.
The sea-side silhouette is shaped by the harbor and is dominated by the three large parish churches that can be seen from afar.
The city is very easy to reach by train. From the train station you can walk to the harbor or take the bus.
Stralsund can be reached by car via the ferry Trelleborg-Rostock and then the A 20 to Stralsund. There are parking spaces in parking garages in the city.
In case you want to come by boat there will be berthing available.
I would be delighted to welcome as many of you as possible in Stralsund in the harbour and on the water.
If you would like to take part, please send me an email so that I can see how many of us will be there and how we can put together the boat crews, also with an indication of whether you will be coming with or without a boat: obfrau@if-boot.de.
My team and I are extremely pleased that we can now hold an international meeting in such a beautiful place!
